Annual Convention 2010- North Shore

Pre-convention Tour

Thursday 10th June: Waiheke Island

The tour begins with a ferry trip to Waiheke Island which has become known as New Zealand’s ‘Island of Wine'. The tour will take in several of the well known wineries and lunch at a venue with spectacular views over the Hauraki Gulf. Dinner at a beautifully restored North Shore villa

Friday 11th June: West Auckland

A coach will take you to the Henderson district, where the heart of Auckland's wine making history began. Visit one of the country’s largest family-owned wine companies. Lunch at a new winery complex before returning to Takapuna.


Convention Programme

Friday 11th June

At the Spencer-on-Byron, the Convention Hotel, activities will commence with registration and a meet & greet. This will be followed by a dinner over which we will compare some Icon NZ wines and with their overseas counter-parts.

Saturday 12th June

An early start to Matakana, Village and its specialty shops. Visit a vineyard tasting room has spectacular views out over the Hauraki Gulf to Little Barrier Island. Lunch at Ransom Wines where they are renowned for platters have a unique quality and freshness.

Formal dinner will be at the Esplanade Hotel, with Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, presenting wines produced in the Auckland region.

Sunday 13th June

We will travel out to a picturesque Kumeu Valley location to sample wines from the various wineries of the area. Over a casual lunch a leading local wine maker will present the wines and give us an insight to the region.
