The Federation of Wine and
Food Societies of New Zealand was formed to encourage greater enjoyment
of wine and food and to fulfill the following objects.
- To provide a National
Federation linking all Wine and Food Societies within New Zealand
- To advise criteria and
procedures for the formation of Wine and Food Societies and to encourage
their formation.
- To increase the communication
and exchange of ideas between Wine and Food Societies.
- To encourage Wine and
Food Societies in different parts of New Zealand to assist in setting
up visits and tours proposed by fellow Societies.
- To instigate periodic
National Conventions and to encourage joint functions between Wine
and Food Societies.
- To encourage links with
the Federation of Wine and Food Societies of Australia and provide
members with information about the Federation of Wine and Food Societies
of Australia.
- To collate and distribute
information to Wine and Food Societies on the subject of wine and
food that it thinks will be of interest, and at all times will endeavour
to promote high standards within the wine and food industry to the
advantage of all members of the Wine and Food Societies.
- To provide a strong consumer
voice on all subjects having a bearing on the objects of the Federation.
- To award certificates
(on the recommendation of Wine and Food Societies) to restaurants,
chefs and others who have provided wine and food to a standard that
the Federation believes should be rewarded by such an award PROVIDED
THAT only one award per Society shall be made annually.
